Valenciennes FC is a French football club from the city of Valenciennes, which was founded in 1913. In the 2005/06 season, it played in the French Ligue 2, with Francis Decourrière as manager and Antoine Kombauré as trainer. The club finished first, and was therefore allowed to return to Ligue 1, the highest French division, after more than ten years of absence. In the 2006/07 season it managed to secure itself with a 17th place. The new stadium, the Stade du Hainaut, was opened on 26 July 2011. This offers space for 25,172 spectators.
