The points classification in the Tour de France is a secondary classification in which the riders receive points per stage, depending on their finish. Since its introduction in 1953, the leader in the points classification has worn a green jersey; the only exception was the 1968 round when the leader's jersey in this classification was red due to the sponsor of that year's points classification.
