Eric van Rossum(born March 27, 1963 in Nijmegen) is a former Dutch footballer who played for N.E.C. and FC Twente.
He grew up in the Waterkwartier and started at SCH before joining N.E.C. came in childhood. Van Rossum made his debut for N.E.C. in the 1983/84 season. Although the club played in the First Division, it played as a losing cup finalist in the European Cup II. Van Rossum played against SK Brann in the first round and played in the home game against FC Barcelona in the second round of the tournament. He was responsible for an own goal in the 3-2 loss. In May 1984 he played four matches for the Dutch Juniors during the Toulon Espoirs tournament in France, where the Netherlands finished fourth. Van Rossum experienced promotion to the Eredivisie via the playoffs in 1985 and relegation in 1986.
In 1987 Van Rossum moved to FC Twente. This team would loan him to N.E.C. in the first season, but in September 1987 he finally transferred and made his debut in the Twente main force. After having a starting place in his first season, he fell out with Twente at the start of the second season after problems with fellow players. Despite a contract, he would not play for Twente until mid-1992. In October 1988, Van Rossum left for Willem II on a rental basis. A season later he was rented out to the Belgian Germinal Ekeren. From February to April 1992 he was loaned to Plymouth Argyle FC in England. In 1992 he returned to Nijmegen where he played with the amateurs of VV SJN. In 1993 he joined Verdy Kawasaki and became champion of Japan. Van Rossum finished at his youth club SCH and was also active in futsal.
Van Rossum and his wife are entrepreneurs in the catering industry in the center of Nijmegen. He ran café D'n August (until the beginning of 2013) in the Augustijnenstraat and since 2008 has had café D'n Hertog in the Hertogstraat.
