This Match-Issue shirt from Lamey was used during the last final round match in which RKC drew against Excelsior and ultimately relegated to the Jupiler League.
Michael Lamey(Amsterdam, November 29, 1979) is a Dutch former footballer who usually played as a right defender, but could also play as a left back.
Lamey is the son of a Nigerian mother and a Dutch father. He started playing football in the Ajax youth academy. He played there until he was twenty, until Martin Jol brought him to RKC Waalwijk. He signed a four-year contract with the club from Waalwijk. He made his debut in the 2001/02 season, in an away match against NAC Breda with the score 0–1. He then played 25 more games, scoring two goals. Lamey attracted the attention of bigger clubs. It was PSV that signed Lamey in the summer of 2001.
Lamey was not immediately transferred to PSV: he was allowed to play for another year at RKC, before being added to the PSV selection in the summer of 2002. PSV also applied the same construction in 2001 to the transfers of Jelle ten Rouwelaar (from Emmen) and Arjen Robben (from FC Groningen). Later, these types of transfers were also known as a 'Robben construction'; named after Robben. He had the most success of this trio at PSV. In the following season, Lamey played 21 more games for RKC.
