This Match-Issue Afonso Alves kit from the 2007-2008 season is a real collector's item. Alves came to the Premier League with a winter transfer in 2008 after an arbitration case involving SC Heerenveen and AZ Alkmaar and managed to score 10 times in 42 games. Brazilian International then moved to the desert of Qatar. This shirt will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity from WeLoveFootballShirts.
Afonso Alves Martins Junior(born 30 January 1981 in Belo Horizonte) is a former Brazilian professional footballer. Alves played for Atlético Mineiro, Örgryte, Malmö, Heerenveen, Middlesbrough and Al-Sadd, among others. Alves became the Eredivisie's top scorer in 2007.
When the transfer market opened in January 2008, AZ Alkmaar, who wanted to acquire the striker from SC Heerenveen for €18,000,000, arrived with a previously signed contract (from the previous transfer period). However, that was no longer valid. Alves had also signed a contract with the English club Middlesbrough. AZ then filed an arbitration case with the KNVB. On January 23, AZ lost this arbitration case.
On January 31, Alves immediately transferred to Middlesbrough. Alves cost manager Gareth Southgate's club around €20,000,000. SC Heerenveen came to an agreement with the English mid-table just before the transfer market closed in early 2008. He played for Middlesbrough for a year and a half, during which he played 43 games and scored 10 times. He was unable to reach the level of his time at Heerenveen and after a year and a half he left again.
