Liverpool's 125th season in existence, and their 55th consecutive season in the top flight of English football. It was also the club's 25th consecutive season in the Premier League. Along with the Premier League, the club also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. The season covered the period from 13 August 2016 to 21 May 2017. The season started with a 4–3 away win against Arsenal and ended with a 3–0 home win against relegated Middlesbrough, which secured the Reds a place in the top four, and qualification to the UEFA Champions League playoff round.
