KV Oostende is a Belgian football club from Ostend. The club is affiliated with the Football Association with registration number 31 and has green-red-yellow as colors. KVO was created in 1981 from a merger of VG and AS Oostende. The club played several seasons at the highest level between 1993 and 2005. Since the 2013/14 season, Ostend has been playing football again in the First Division.
After two top seasons, the KVO fared a lot less in the 2017/18 season. After a disastrous start to the season, with one point in seven games, coach Vanderhaeghe was thanked for services rendered. His assistant coach Adnan Custovic took over. After some good games it was decided that he could stay on, at least until the end of the season. Things gradually improved under his trainership, but the coastal team still continued to dangle in the tail of the standings. The regular season ended in eleventh place.
In December 2017, Marc Coucke announced his retirement, as he would take over RSC Anderlecht a few months later. At the beginning of February 2018, it became known that insurance broker Peter Callant became the new owner and chairman of KV Oostende. In Coucke's wake, sporting director Luc Devroe also moved to the capital, he was succeeded by Hugo Broos.
On February 18, 2019, Peter Callant announced that he was passing on the torch to Vice-President Frank Dierckens.
After the 2019-2020 season, it was announced that the American Pacific Media Group became a 70% shareholder in KV Oostende. Dierckens remains chairman. The intention is to obtain a professional license for next season through the Belgian Court of Arbitration for Sport. On May 10, 2020, it was announced that KVO obtained its professional license through the BAS. This allows the club to play at the highest level.
