Kalmar FF is a Swedish football club playing in the Allsvenskan. The club was founded on January 10, 1910 and plays its home games at the Guldfågeln Arena in Kalmar.
The association was founded in 1910 under the name IF Göta. Because another football club already had this name, the new association could not participate in the competition. After the club was renamed IF Gothia in 1912, it was admitted. In 1918 Gothia merged with Kamraterna under the new name Kalmar Idrottssälskap (Kalmar IS). In 1927 the name was changed to Kalmar Fotboll Föreningen (Kalmar FF).
The greatest success in club history was achieved 98 years after its founding, in 2008 Kalmar FF took the Swedish league title. Until the first championship, second place in 1985 was the club's best result for a long time. Only Malmö FF performed better that season. In 2005 Kalmar FF took third place, but she had to recognize her superior in Djurgårdens IF and IFK Göteborg. It turned out to be the advance to a successful period. On the basis of the brothers Elm (Viktor, Rasmus and David) and the Brazilians Cesar Santin and Ari, the club finished second behind IFK Göteborg in 2007, with a chance to win the championship until the last game. However, the Swedish Cup was won that year. A year later, Kalmar FF took the Swedish title for the first time, currently the only championship in club history.
In 1978 Kalmar FF reached the cup final for the first time. Malmö FF was the opponent and proved to be the stronger factor. In 1981 Kalmar FF again reached the final battle, this time with Elfsborg IF as opponent. At the end of the game, the supporters of Kalmar were able to party on the streets, as the club won the Svenska Cupen. In 1987, the club recorded its second cup final victory by beating GAIS Göteborg. The third cup victory was achieved in 2007 by beating IFK Göteborg. Kalmar FF was last in the cup final in 2011. That year, however, Helsingborgs IF was too strong.
