The London Monarchs (or simply the Monarchs) are a former professional American football team from London. The Monarchs were among 10 teams that played in the former World League of American Football (WLAF), a semi-professional league featuring teams from the United States, Canada and Europe. In their last season (1998) they played under the name England Monarchs and in 1999 they were replaced in the NFL Europe by the Berlin Thunder.
In the first year (1991) that the London Monarchs and the WLAF existed, the Monarchs reached the final of the World Bowl, in which the Barcelona Dragons were defeated 21-0. After 1991, the team never reached the World Bowl finals again.
