(AVC) Vitesse 1892 was an amateur football club from Arnhem, which was founded in 1892 under the name Cricket- en footballclub Vitesse. This made the club the oldest football club in the capital of Gelderland. In 1984, the club was divided into separate units for professional and amateur football. This is how the Arnhemse Voetbal Club (AVC) Vitesse 1892 was founded on 15 June 1984 for amateurs and the Stichting Betaald Voetbal Vitesse for professionals. On 19 March 2009, the board decided to stop the amateur club due to debts and lack of prospects. The club was declared bankrupt.
Vitesse 1892 was located at the Valkenhuizen Sports Complex on Beukenlaan in Arnhem-Noord. The club has proven to be a training institute for a number of talented football players. More than 20 players have moved on to a professional football organisation. Examples of these are Andy van der Meijde, Theo Bos, Nicky Hofs, Léon Hese, Erwin van de Looi, Jay-Roy Grot and Theo Janssen.
