VV STEEN is a Dutch amateur football club from Sint Jansteen, in the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen region of the province of Zeeland.
The club was founded on May 4, 1929 under the name "Rapiditas". Henk Jansen and the Vink boys were the big pacesetters. Henk Jansen was already chairman of the fan club of cyclist Cesar Bogaert. So he was an avid sports stimulator. He became the first chairman of the association.
As already mentioned, the club was named Rapiditas. However, as it turned out, this name was already used by another association. So a different name had to be given. The new club name became V.V. STEEN: 'Fight Faithfully, Fairly And Nobly'. Jozef Everaard, the famous Steen historian, was the man who came up with this name. In those days the outfit consisted of a purple and white sweater and black trousers and black stockings. The sweaters (knitted themselves) were quickly washed off and so it happened that there were many shades of purple on the field. The first real football field was located on Molenstraat and was owned by Mr. Coppenol.
