Romário de Souza Faria(born January 29, 1966 in Rio de Janeiro), football name Romário, is a Brazilian politician and professional footballer. His nickname is O Baixinho, loosely translated 'The Little One'. Romário is considered by many to be one of the best strikers ever. During his playing career, he scored more than 1,000 goals and won several major trophies such as the Football World Cup, the Copa América twice, the Confederations Cup and several national championships, including the Eredivisie and Primera División. The former world footballer of the year was mentioned by Pelé in March 2004 in the FIFA 100 best players list.
Since 2015, Romário has been a senator for the state of Rio de Janeiro.
