The Scotland national football team is a team of football players that represent Scotland in international competitions. The nickname of the supporters is the "Tartan Army". This is derived from the kilts which traditionally have a certain pattern of tartan (a tartan), and 'Army' means 'army'. The supporters also call themselves "Ally's Army" after Ally MacLeod, Scotland's coach during the 1978 FIFA World Cup.
