VV Bergen is a Dutch amateur football club from Bergen, North Holland, founded on December 21, 2015 after a merger between BSV Bergen and VV Berdos. Until the end of the 2015/16 season, the clubs continued to play football under their old name. The club plays at Sportpark De Kiefthoek, where VV Berdos used to be housed.
Many attempts have been made to bring about the merger between VV Berdos and BSV Bergen. In previous attempts, among other things, the not yet strict necessity and the bubbling up of sentiments among the older members were the reasons for calling off the merger. In recent years it has become increasingly clear that it will become increasingly difficult in the future to allow two healthy football clubs to continue to exist in the center of Bergen. An increasing aging population and a decrease in the number of births were important factors in getting serious about the merger plans.
After a feasibility study and declarations of intent from both clubs, a merger process followed with a lot of consultation and coordination. It was important that the members of both merger partners could find themselves in the new club. The members of BSV Bergen in particular had quite a few reservations about what the new club building should look like. After all the wrinkles had been ironed out, the members' meetings of both VV Berdos and BSV Bergen agreed to the merger.
After the merger had become official, various working groups set to work on the realization and elaboration of various matters on the basis of a working document. This included accommodation, financial affairs, football technical matters and numerous operational matters. A steering group ensured coordination and coordination. In collaboration with, among others, the municipality of Bergen and the KNVB, the new merger club was able to start at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season. The association started with about 700 playing members divided over various age groups.
The standard team plays in the Third Division Sunday of the West I district (2020/21).
The club's kit consists of a red shirt with white trim over the shoulders towards the arms, red shorts and red stockings with 2 white horizontal stripes.
