SV Alkmania is a former football club from Oude Wetering. The club originated from the RKVV Weteringse Boys, founded in 1945, which was renamed SV Alkmania in 1977. The first team last played in the Third Division on Sunday in the KNVB district West II (2014/15).
SV Alkmania is next door to rival DOSR. These teams have also been playing against each other in a competitive context for several years now. DOSR - Alkmania is a derby that always attracts around 1500 spectators. There have been plans to merge the two clubs, but they have so far come to nothing. However, in 2015 Alkmania merged with SVOW from Weteringbrug to WVC.
In 1945 the Roman Catholic football club Weteringse Boys was founded. The club started with 3 teams, a meadow as a playing field, a cowshed as a dressing room and a local café as a clubhouse. From the 1964-1965 season, a new complex on Sportlaan was moved into, at the same time as direct competitor DOSR. Since then the club has grown into an association with almost 500 members.
The women's branch was founded in 1972, under the name Weteringse Girls. The early years went well, with the national championship in 1979 and four players in the Dutch women's football team. Nowadays the ladies play at a lower level.
In 2006 and 2011, the first men's team became champions of the Fourth Division on Sunday. Because the club finished eighth in the 2014/15 season of the Third Division, the new club WVC was allowed to play in the Third Division in the 2015/16 season.
