Karlsruher SC is a German football club from Karlsruhe. The club was founded on June 6, 1894.
KSC secured promotion to the Bundesliga for the 2007/08 season on 29 April 2007 after the 1-0 victory over SpVgg Unterhaching. The team from Karlsruhe has dominated the Zweite Bundesliga all season. They played 14 games (9 wins, 5 draws) before taking their first defeat. This happened against Erzgebirge Aue. In the winter break, Edmund Becker's team was at the top. They were followed by Hansa Rostock. They are the first team in the Zweite Bundesliga to have been at the top all season. The season at the top started well and at first it even looked like the club could make it to European football, but the club lost its form and dropped to 11th place. In 2009 the club was relegated. In 2012, the club sank further; In two promotion/relegation games, KSC lost to Jahn Regensburg and dropped to the 3. Liga. Here the club immediately became champion and promoted back to the 2. Bundesliga. After a fifth place, the club became third in 2015 and thus had a chance of promotion again, but lost in the final round to HSV. After another seventh place, a new relegation followed in 2017. The following season, the KSC almost managed to immediately return to the 2. Bundesliga. In the "Relegationsspiele" Erzgebirge Aue was slightly stronger. But after the 2nd place in the 2018/19 season, KSC was promoted back to the 2. Bundesliga.
