FC Volendam is a Dutch football club from Volendam. The club was founded on June 1, 1977 as a split from RKSV Volendam (founded on June 1, 1920). The uniform consists of an orange shirt and black pants: that is why the club is also called 'The Other Orange'. The home games are played in the Kras Stadium.
Volendam has reached the final of the KNVB Cup twice to date. The first time (1958) Sparta proved too strong with 4-3. In May 1995 Feyenoord took the cup after a 2-1 victory. The club's highest ranking is sixth place in the Eredivisie in the 1989/90 and 1992/93 seasons.
Characteristic for Volendam are the many local players, with names such as Schilder, Tol, Steur, Veerman and Jonk and the many promotions and relegations to and from the Eredivisie. The botter that always drives over the Dijk during a promotion and with which the players are honored is therefore called De Heen en Weer. The club was last relegated from the Eredivisie in the 2008/09 season. In the 2021/22 season, Volendam finished in second place in the Eerste Divisie, which meant that it was immediately promoted to the Eredivisie. For example, Volendam returned to the highest level after thirteen years.
