Calcio Foggia is an Italian football club from Foggia in southern Italy.
The club was founded in 1920 and played mainly in the lower tiers until the 1960s. The club was promoted to Serie A for the first time in 1964 and was able to hold out there for three years, in the first season the club finished ninth. In 1970 the club returned but were immediately relegated back to Serie B. Foggia returned in 1973 and started quite well but the return round was alarming and in addition the squad was embroiled in a corruption scandal, relegation was inevitable. But Foggia recovered and came back in 1976, this time the club could hold out for two seasons.
In the 1980s, the club sank to lower leagues and was only able to promote back to Serie B in 1989. Foggia became champion in 1991 and promoted to the highest division. Foggia finished ninth, although the club lost 8-2 to champions AC Milan on the last match day (while the club first led 1-2). For the next two seasons, the club was in the middle. 1994/95 seemed to start well, but then the team sank and relegated in the fourth season in the highest division. In 1998 the club was relegated to Serie C1 and a year later even to Serie C2, causing the club to experience one of the fastest declines in recent history.
After four years in the fourth division, the club was promoted back to Serie C1 in 2003.
