Esbjerg fB is a Danish football club from the coastal town of Esbjerg. The association was founded on July 23, 1924 and played more than forty seasons in the Superliga. The club plays its home games at the Blue Water Arena. The traditional colors of Esbjerg fB are blue and white.
The club was founded in 1924 after a merger between Esbjerg Boldklub aaf 1898 and Esbjerg Amatør Klub to take football to a higher level. The most successful seasons were at the beginning of the 60s. In 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1965 they became Danish national champions. Although no championship was won in 1964, the Danish football cup was won by a 2-1 victory over Odense KFUM.
In 2005, EfB took over the elite division of the Esbjerg Ishockey Klub (EIK) which played in the Danish ice hockey Liga.1 and now plays under the name EfB Ishockey. The amateur division of EIK continued to play under its own name.
In the 2018 season, the hundred-time Dutch national team player Rafael van der Vaart signed a contract with Esbjerg fB, who then came over from FC Midtjylland. Under the Dutch coach John Lammers, Van der Vaart only came into action a few times. He ended his football career as a player at Esbjerg fB. He has been an assistant coach and club ambassador since August 2021.
