Heerenveen is playing in the Eredivisie this season and is participating in the battle for the KNVB Cup. The team was coached for the second year in a row by Dwight Lodeweges. On October 20, 2015, Dwight Lodeweges resigned from his position as coach of sc Heerenveen with immediate effect. Foppe de Haan would act as interim manager until the club appointed a replacement. On December 11, 2015, it was announced that Foppe de Haan would remain head coach until the end of the season.
