The Poland national football team (Polish: polska reprezentacja narodowa) is a team of football players that represents Poland in international competitions. Its nickname is Biało-czerwoni (white-red). This nickname comes from the colors of the home kit that fall back on the national flag.
The Polish team played its first international match against the Hungary national football team on December 18, 1921 in Budapest, losing 1-0 to the home side. Poland won the gold medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics, followed by the silver medal four years later in Montreal. Poland finished in third place at the 1974 and 1982 World Cups.
