Clyde FC is a Scottish football club based in Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire.
The club was founded in 1877 and played at Barrowfield Park close to the River Clyde after which the club is named. In 1896 they moved to Shawfield Stadium. Like many Glasgow clubs, the club faced stiff competition from Rangers FC and Celtic FC. Nevertheless, the club was able to win the Scottish Cup 3 times and the Glasgow Cup 5 times. In 1967 the club finished third in the final standings of the Division One. Normally the club was allowed to participate in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, but at that time there was still a rule of one club per city and Clyde's place was given to the Rangers, so Clyde never played European.
In 1986 the club was forced to leave its stadium and share a pitch with Partick Thistle FC and Hamilton Academical before moving into the current stadium in 1994. That year the club moved to Cumbernauld, a town that was only founded in 1956 near Glasgow. .
In the years 2003 and 2004 the club finished second but because only one team is promoted, the club could not return to the top division where the club had already played for 64 years. In 2009 and 2010, the club was relegated two seasons in a row and thus ended up in the Scottish League Two, where it still plays until now (2019/20).
In January 2006, Celtic were defeated 2-1 in the Scottish Cup.
