Kesimal played in his youth with Wuppertaler SV and FC Köln. In 2009 he went to Kayserispor. On August 24, 2010, he scored his first goal for that club against MKE Ankaragücü. In July 2011, he was sold for four million euros to Fenerbahçe SK. At the same time, Gökhan Ünal went the opposite way. After a period of injuries he eventually forced a base place at Fenerbahçe. During the 2012/13 season he lost that basic place to Bekir İrtegün.
