The FC Stadthagen (officially: Fußballclub Stadthagen von 1950 e.V.) is a soccer club from Stadthagen in the district of Schaumburg. The first soccer team played for two years in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.
In 1945, after the end of the Second World War, all gymnastics and sports clubs in the city, including the SC Marathon Stadthagen, were merged into the Association for Sports and Body Care Stadthagen. In 1948, the footballers of the VSK Stadthagen were promoted to the then second-class state league Hanover. As the penultimate one was classified in 1949 in the newly created amateur league 3. A year later, the football department split off from the entire club as FC Stadthagen.
The FCS reached its sporting climax in the 1954/55 season, when the team won championships with seven points ahead of Sportfreunde Ricklingen. In the following round of promotion to the amateur league, however, the Stadthagener could only win one game and missed the leap in class. After a few years in midfield or relegation battle, the qualification for the newly created Verbandsliga West was missed in 1964 as eighth.
In 1968 they were promoted to the Verbandsliga West, where they were third in 1970 and fifth two years later. In 1979 the club had to go back to the district level after a league reform. Under coach Bernd Dierßen, he was promoted to the Hanover regional league in 1995. The march into the Lower Saxony league was only just missed after the playoff against SV Holthausen / Biene was lost 2-0.
A year later, the league finally succeeded in the Lower Saxony League West, where one had to relegate, however, after one season as the penultimate again. The games of the FCS were a guarantee for high-scoring games in the season. SpVg Aurich were beaten 5-4 at home, while they lost to SC Langenhagen 5-6 at home. In 2001 the FCS was relegated from the regional league, returned straight away for two years and from 2004 played in the Hanover regional league for the following eight years.
In 2012, FC Stadthagen managed to return to the regional league as runner-up in the district league. In the relegation games for promotion, the FCS was able to prevail against the TuS Sulingen and the Hannoversche SC. However, this was followed by immediate relegation to the district league, before relegation to the district league in 2019.
