The Süper Lig is the highest football division in Turkey. The current name is following a sponsorship contract Spor Toto Süper Lig. Twenty-one clubs play in this competition, whose numbers 18, 19, 20 and 21 are relegated to the TFF 1. Lig. As the Turkish league coefficient now stands in the UEFA coefficients, the champion qualifies for the play-offs and plays the number two qualifying rounds in the UEFA Champions League, flowing into the second qualifying round for non-champions. The numbers three and four qualify for the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The winner of the Turkish Cup qualifies for the play-offs of the UEFA Europa League. The league was founded in 1959 with the name Millî Lig (National League), replacing the Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası (Turkish Football Championship) and the Millî Küme (National Division).
