Umbro is an internationally known clothing brand, based in Manchester, England. Umbro mainly makes football clothing and equipment. These products are sold in more than 90 countries. The logo of the brand consists of two horizontal windows with the same center.
The brand was founded in 1910 in Wilmslow as Humphreys Brothers Clothing. In 1924 the name was changed to Umbro, short for the previous name Humphrey Brothers. The first football jersey was designed for Manchester City in 1934, the same year the FA Cup was won in this shirt. Another sporting success was achieved by the English national football team at the World Championships in 1966, in the Umbro shirt the World Cup was conquered for the first time. By the way, all the uniforms of the participating countries were delivered by Umbro during that tournament, with one exception.
On 23 October 2007, it was announced that Nike is taking over the brand for an amount of 408 million euros. This deal was finally finalized in early 2008.
In 2012 the company was taken over by Iconix Brand Group.
