Hummel International is a Danish manufacturer of sports clothing and accessories. The company produces for sports such as football, handball, basketball, rugby, cricket and volleyball.
The company was founded in 1923 by the Messmer family in Hamburg, Germany. In the Second World War the factory was destroyed and production came to a halt. The brand was taken over in 1956 by Bernhard Weckenbrock, who continued the company in Kevelaer. In 1975 it was purchased by its Danish importer. Hummel is currently based in Aarhus.
Hummel produces clothing for a large number of teams, including FC Utrecht in the Benelux. It also sponsors a large number of teams, including the Tibetan national football team.
The company's logo symbolizes a bumblebee. The brand name is officially written in lowercase.
